Hello everyone! Today I'm writing about Juneteenth, this celebration dates back to 1865. On June 19th, the Union soldiers landed at Galveston, Texas and the news spread that the Civil war had ended and that ALL slaves were now free. I wanted to write about this because a lot  of us are ignorant to our history. It is ALL of our history because our ancestors played a role in the disgraceful act of slavery. Whether we are of European, African, or Aztect/Native. Each and every one of us now has privilege that people of color then and now do not have. Our society has functioned in a strange way since thousands of years ago. The white skinned people (males primarily) were at the top of society, they made the rules about what was legal and illegal. They decided to transport African people to the America's to use them as a free labor force. Ingredients:  2 cups all purpose unbleached flour 3/4 cups white granulated sugar 1/2 cup dark brown sugar (packed) 3/4 teaspoon baking powder 3/4 teaspoon salt 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 cup soy milk (plain, or almond milk) 2 cups banana (mashed, from about 4 large very ripe bananas) 1/4 cup olive oil 2 tablespoons maple syrup 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans Pre-heat oven at 350F degrees. In a large bowl mix all of the dry ingredients using a whisk ! Mash the bananas in a separate bowl Combine the wet and dry ingredients and gradually add bananas while whisking everything together. Spray or use vegan butter on your baking pan  Pour mix into pan and set in the oven for 30 minutes, check using tooth pick until it comes out clean. Let it cool and serve! Hello Everyone! So I know that I have mentioned a few times that I live in Texas, very close to the city of Dallas. I love spending a lot of time in Dallas because it's a wonderful city with a lot of interesting people. From Deep Ellum and its venues to tasty restaurants and beautiful homes. In fact, in the 1920's it was a haven for jazz and blues artists like ''Blind Lemon Jefferson'' and Huddie ''Lead Belly''.  The name derives from what locals knew as Deep Elm street if you were to purchase one of the new homes in Dallas , Texas you would be in for an experience. There are all types of neighborhoods here. You could hang out in Bishop Arts district or design district. Personally, I like to enjoy many rock concerts or concertos.
